The Observation Mission of OSCE visited the State Audit Office

The delegation of the Election Observation Mission (EOM) of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) / the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) has visited the State Audit Office (SAO).

The Auditor General Irakli Mekvabishvili introduced the Head of the OSCE Mission, Jillian Stirk the status of financial monitoring of political parties, as well as legislative changes in the direction of monitoring, implementation of the OSCE/ODIHR recommendations, status of donations and expenditures.

From the OSCE Mission, the meeting was attended by the Legal Analyst, Marla Morry and the Political Analyst Aly Verjee. The SAO was represented by the Deputy Auditor General, Eka Ghazadze and the Head of the Political Finances Monitoring Department, Besik Kochiashvili.

OSCE / ODIHR EOM observers will assess the forthcoming elections in accordance with the principles of democratic electoral processes, including commitments agreed by all OSCE participating States and national legislation.

Observers will monitor the election campaign, media coverage of events, the legal framework and its implementation, the work of the election administration and relevant state bodies, and the resolution of election disputes.

Within the monitoring process, members of the mission meet with government officials, candidates, political parties, the judiciary, civil society and the media.

The OSCE statement on preliminary data and conclusions will be published the day after the elections.
